Homebuyer Education and Pre-Purchase
Counseling - We can help you learn how to buy a home. Our
workshop series covers topics including home inspections, financing
options and more. Clients also receive no cost, one-on-one
counseling on budgeting, savings, credit repair and home purchase.
Our goal is to help clients buy an affordable home.
Home Renovation - Since 1966,
we have renovated hundreds of Schenectady homes. Grant financing
allows us to make extensive repairs while keeping the homes
affordable for eligible homebuyers.
Foreclosure Prevention - BNI house
counselors are skilled in helping you navigate foreclosure
proceedings. We will help you understand your options, what steps
you can take, and tell you the most likely outcome. We have
experience working with banks and the courts on solving foreclosure
problems and we’ll do our best to make sure you can actively manage

We maintain a Community Tool Library that residents can utilize for

funds available for moderate and low income buyers AND for
first-time home buyers.
Not-for-Profit Corporation - Our role is to assist homeownership
in our community. We were founded in 1966 and have repaired and
built hundreds of homes.
